Stow Board of Selectmen
February 9, 2016
Town Building
 

Present at the meeting that was held at Town Building were James Salvie, Brian Burke, Donald Hawkes, Charles Kern. Thomas Ryan was absent.

Also present were William Wrigley, Town Administrator and  Maureen Trunfio, Administrative Assistant

Mr. Hawkes called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Public Input: The Town Clerk announced that tomorrow, February 10th,  would be the voter registration deadline for the March 1st primary and that absentee ballots were available.

Chairman’s Comments: The Chair thanked the Town Clerk and her staff for running the Special Town Meeting. He thanked Hudson Light & Power for their efficient handling of the recent snow storm. He added that the scheduled Eversource/Hudson Light & Power agenda item would not be addressed at this meeting due to heavy work schedules by both power companies resulting from the recent storm.

Town Administrator  
Mr. Wrigley provided the Board with a summary of the preliminary  FY17 budget. He forecasted a 3.9% increase.
Mr. Wrigley left the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
Call for Selectmen Volunteer for Minuteman Senior Services “March for Meals” campaign
Mr. Hawkes mentioned that Meals for Wheels is requesting help with meal delivery. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the Selectmen’s Office.
Discussion/vote on permit for Stow Clean-Up Day April 9th
The Board voted unanimously to approve Stow Clean-Up Day scheduled for April 9th from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Board thanked the Taft family for their work in organizing the event each year.
Mr. Burke moved to permit Sandy Taft and his group of volunteers to use the Lower Common as a staging area for the Annual Stow Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 7:30 AM to 12;30 p.m. and to waive any fees associated with hanging the banner to advertise the event. Mr. Salvie seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
Discussion/vote on permit for Stow Conservation Trust Run for the Woods May 15th
The Board voted unanimously to approve the Run for the Woods, a fundraiser for the Stow Conservation Trust scheduled for May 15th.
Mr. Salvie moved to approve the use of public ways by the Stow Conservation Trust for the purpose of the Trust’s annual Run for the Woods on Sunday, May 15, 2016, commencing at 7:30 a.m., provided they abide by the Operational Plan for traffic and routing devised by Public Safety officers and Race Director Aims Coney. Mr. Kern seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.

Discussion/vote on permit for National Multiple Sclerosis Society Bike MS Minuteman Ride July 16th
The Board voted unanimously to approve the MS Society Bike Ride scheduled for July 16th.
Mr. Burke moved to approve the use of Town public ways for the 8th annual National MS Society “Minuteman” bike ride through Stow on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Mr. Salvie seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.

Liaison Reports
Mr. Salvie reported that the Capital Planning Committee has scheduled three meetings in the month of March.  He added that the Pompo Building Committee held a walk-through.
Mr. Burke mentioned that he had attended the most recent Tri-Town meeting that occurred the prior week.
Mr. Hawkes said he had been keeping informed of progress with the  Nashoba Regional School District  budget and he plans to attend an upcoming meeting of the Nashoba Space Committee  Task Force later this week.
At 8:35 p.m. Mr. Salvie moved to adjourn. Mr. Kern seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.
